UAB DOV Investicija is a branch company of the Danish company DOVISTA, which is a strategic investor in the Marijampole Free Economic Zone (hereinafter referred to as “Baltic FEZ”). According to the contract, the company will invest not less than 30 million Euro here in the coming years and will create at least 300 work places. From the beginning one of the Danish condition’s during the negotiation was related to ensuring of staff-friendly infrastructure and conditions in cooperating with the municipality (natural environment, provision of places in kindergartens for young families, etc.). In modern practice, there are four areas, where businesses engage in socially responsible activities: employees, community, environment and relationships with business partners. In this case, the first steps were related to the Baragine community, neighbouring to which the producer will settle.
Two meetings with the Baragine neighbourhood community have already been held in the course of the project development. The initiative for these meetings came from the investor. Such meetings are aimed to introduce the planned development of the industrial object, to answer the questions of concern, to better understand mutual expectations.
The first meeting was attended by the representatives of the Baragine community, DOVISTA (Denmark) and Baltic FEZ management. The focus was on the presenting of the investor and the planned stages of the construction works.
In the second meeting the representatives of the Baragine community, Danish investor, Marijampole municipality, Baltic FEZ and Baltic Engineers took part. This time, more attention was devoted to the direct discussion among the participants. Information about the planned production, the need for workforce, the changes (e. g. related to traffic flow) that will take place during the year of the plant construction, was provided.
Similar meetings are planned in the future as well.
